Over the last two decades, Durham has made a name for itself as a bold, creative, inclusive, innovative and unapologetic community with a rich history and bright future. Among other destinations in the Triangle, Durham stands on its own two feet as a vibrant urban center in the South.

Discover Durham, the county’s globally accredited destination marketing organization and tourism development authority, is leading the creation and installation of signage in our main airport terminal to welcome travelers, many of whom may be unfamiliar with the area, to Durham and all it has to offer.

Survey data was collected from June 10 to July 7 to be considered in the design methodology. Using visitor data and input from the community, Discover Durham will complete the design of the signage, which is expected to be unveiled later this year. 

A Request for Proposals (RFP) has been issued to identify a vendor to install the welcome sign in the airport terminal. The selection process is now underway, and a vendor is expected to be identified within the coming weeks. Please check back here for additional project details as they become available.
